“The Neighborhood Energy Saver Program is a great way for us to help our customers save energy, save money and improve their quality of life,” said Duke Energy Government and Community Relations Manager Rick Burger. “In addition to the improvements their homes receive, customers will learn how to take control of their energy costs by practicing energy-saving habits.”
The Neighborhood Energy Saver Program is an income-qualified program that targets neighborhoods based on federal and state guidelines, as well as U.S. census data.
"This is a great opportunity for residents to save money and improve the energy efficiency of their homes,” said Dave Elkins, president of the West Vigo Community Center. “We are excited that Duke Energy is offering this program to residents, and we hope that qualifying community members will take advantage of it.”
Last year, the program helped nearly 1,500 Duke Energy Indiana customers make energy efficiency upgrades to their homes. Collectively, the company installed more than 1,000 heating, ventilation and air conditioning filters, nearly 1,000 low-flow showerheads, and more than 11,000 energy-efficient LED (light-emitting diode) lightbulbs.
Since the Neighborhood Energy Saver Program was launched in March 2015, more than 12,000 Duke Energy Indiana households have received free energy makeovers.
